What's involved in a kitchen or a bahroom remodel?
A kitchen remodel typically starts with a consultation where we assess your space, discuss your goals, and provide a realistic budget. From there, we handle design planning, permit applications with your local building agency, demolition, all structural and trade work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC), cabinet and countertop installation, flooring, and final finishes. Bathroom remodels are similar in process, and require the same steps to be completed as far as planning, permits, etc. Most kitchen & bathroom remodels take 4-8 weeks once we start construction, though larger projects can run longer. We coordinate everything so you're not juggling multiple contractors or chasing down inspections. For detailed cost breakdowns and what to expect at each phase, check out our Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel Guides found on our Resources page.
What is the difference between Handyman Services and A Remodel?
Handyman services cover smaller repairs and improvements that don't require major permits or structural work, such as fixture replacements, minor electrical or plumbing repairs, drywall patching, door/window repairs, tile repairs, minor carpentry, and general home maintenance. If the job takes a day or two and doesn't involve moving walls, adding circuits, or relocating plumbing lines, it likely falls under handyman work. Once you're talking about changing layouts, major electrical/plumbing work, or anything requiring plan check, you're into remodel territory. Our Handyman Services Guide on the Resources page breaks down what we handle and gives you a sense of typical project costs.
Is a garage conversion the same as an ADU conversion?
A garage conversion is a type of ADU conversion. You're taking an existing garage and converting it into livable space, either an ADU (separate dwelling with its own kitchen and bathroom) or a JADU (Junior ADU, which is smaller and may share facilities with the main house). The process involves insulation, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, flooring, and making the space habitable while meeting current building codes. Most garage conversions take 2-4 months depending on the scope. One advantage: if your garage was originally permitted when built, it typically grandfathers into current setback requirements even if it doesn't meet today's standards. See our Garage Conversion Guide on the Resources page for full details and cost breakdowns.
